Newly built in 2001, the Arts Building/Facilities is home to UCR's
growing visual and performing arts programs. The Arts Building houses the Dance, Music,
History of Art, and Art
departments, and includes dance studios, music rehearsal
and screening rooms, performance labs, a photographic
and film shooting studio, painting and sculpture
studios, Multimedia
Computer Laboratory, an arts library, the Music
Library, and the Visual

The UCR/California Museum of Photography (UCR/CMP), managed by the College, is a major photography exhibition and study center. It holds the largest photographic archives of its kind west of the Mississippi, including 6,500 Ansel Adams negatives, the Keystone-Mast stereoscopic collection, and the Bingham camera collection. The UCR/CMP offers numerous exhibitions and film screenings each year, in addition to serving as a unique resource of historic photographs and photographic equipment. |

The Highlander Research Complex is the site for CHASS research. The complex is home to the Center for Bibliographical Studies and Research, Center for Ideas and Society, Ernesto Galarza Applied Research Center, Center for Social & Economic Policy (CSEP), Inland Area Writing Project and the Social Psychology Research Laboratory. |

Eight academic departments of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences reside in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. The Dean's Office and the Student Academic Affairs office are both located in this building. It is also home to the following departments: Comparative Literature and Foreign Languages; English; Hispanic Studies; History; and Philosophy. Other facilities include the HMNSS 1500 Conference Room, the Media Library, and the Language Instruction Lab. |

Olmsted Hall is home to the Psychology department. Located in this building are also the psychology research laboratories and two instructional computer laboratories. |

Sproul Hall, located adjacent to the Humanities and Social Sciences building houses the Economics department. Also residing here is the CATI Computing Laboratory and a campus resource known as the UCR Statistical Consulting Collaboratory which jointly combines the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences; and Computing and Communications. |

The Jack and Marilyn Sweeney Art Gallery develops and presents eight exhibitions of contemporary and historic works of art each year. It also provides interpretation, preservation, and collection of works of art; produces publications, symposia, lectures, and other events; serves as a laboratory for training future museum and other art professionals; and hosts the annual senior thesis exhibition for students in the Department of Art. |

The University Theater is a 484-seat proscenium arch production facility featuring professional-level technical capabilities managed by the Theatre Facility Unit. Each year, it is home to numerous theatre, dance, and music performances, along with other events for the campus and community. |

Watkins Hall is home to the Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology departments. Located there are the Archaeology/Biological Anthropology Lab and a computer lab which is one of several on campus which features Mac and PC computers, printers and software for student use. |

The Barbara & Art Culver Center of the Arts is part of UC Riverside's continuing dedication to the advancement of culture and arts in the local and campus community. The project intends to renovate the Rouse Building, located in the Mission Inn Historic District in Downtown Riverside, include facilitate exhibition and retail space, a film and video screening room, graduate and faculty offices, living accommodations and work space for visiting artists, and a 250-seat Downtown Performance Hall. |

The new CHASS Interdisciplinary Building was completed and ready for Winter 2008. It is located between the Arts and PE buildings. It is the home for Theatre, Women's Studies, Creative Writing, Ethnic Studies, Media and Cultual Studies and Religious Studies departments. It also houses Interdisciplinary Programs which includes Global Studies, Labor Studies, Southeast Asia: Texts, Rituals, Performance Initiative (SEATRiP), Public Policy, Asian Studies, Liberal Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Latin American Studies, and Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences The California Center for Native American is in the 3rd floor. The Media Library is in Room 2117. |

The new Psychology Building construction began in Spring 2006, with the expected date of completion in Spring 2008. it is located between Lot 6 and Olmsted Hall. With 34,601 assignable square feet, the new Psychology building will provide 19,125asf for labs, 7,196asf for offices, and 8,280asf for vivarium. |
