Gifts That Have Made a Difference
There are a variety of reasons that people make donations to CHASS and its departments. Here are a few examples of gifts that have made a major difference.
Maxwell H. Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts
The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at the University of California, Riverside received a $1 million grant from the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation to continue funding the arts outreach program through June 30, 2010. That brings to nearly $6 million the total amount of funding provided by the Gluck Foundation for the program. During the 2007-08 academic year, 116 Gluck graduate, undergraduate and faculty fellows from eight departments brought the arts to thousands of students, teachers, elders and other community members through performances and presentations.
Oliver and Carol Johnson Endowed Award in Philosophy
Professor of Philosophy Emeritus Oliver Johnson was one of UCR's founding faculty members and left a lasting impression on campus. Following his death in 2000, his family honored his legacy by creating an endowed scholarship to support philosophy students.
Yolanda T. Moses Endowed Scholarship Fund
Dr. Yolanda T. Moses, (‘76 Ph.D, ‘75 MA Anthropology), Professor of Anthropology and Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Excellence and Equity at UC Riverside, established a scholarship fund in her name in the Department of Anthropology.
