Executive Vice-Chancellor David
Warren Closes a Chapter in his Career
By Ferda Mehmet, student intern of CHASS College Computing
Warren demonstrated grace and dignity during his nine-year term as Executive Vice Chancellor at UCR. With principle responsibility for the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of all academic policies and programs, Dr. Warren has endlessly worked to benefit UCR during his career. As part of the UCR community for over 30 years, Warren has served as the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Director of the University Honors Program, and Chair of the Department of Psychology. His leadership and vision have also contributed to UCR's continual growth and recognition in national and international prominence and stature. Due to UCR’s current period of rapid growth, Warren has worked extensively to accommodate growth and planning for the future of the university. In 1998-2000, he contributed in conducting a comprehensive planning process called UCR Vision 2010, a roadmap for the future that incorporated the ideas and hopes for the campus from its every constituency. He has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in recent academic planning processes. His strong prominence for quality in faculty hiring, as well as in the development of programs and curriculum has added great value to the campus. Effective June 30, 2003, Dr. David Warren will step down from his position of Executive Vice Chancellor and return back to Department of Psychology as a faculty. Chancellor France A. Córdova, although saddened at the prospect of losing a valued and distinguished colleague and administrator, is pleased and supportive of Warren’s decision to embark on planning the next phase of his career. The campus community looks forward to seeing what other contributions Dr. Warren’s excellence has in store for UC Riverside. A photo gallery is available for viewing these special events. |
