Assistant Dean Amy Smith came to UCR in 1999
from the California State University system as the first Developmental
Director of CHASS. Smith has seen a tremendous growth in student
enrollment as a major change during her time here at UCR.
Also the foundations of a strong development program have
been laid during her tenure. In the future, Assistant Dean
Smith plans to “continue to raise funds to support the
students, faculty, and programs in the College,” but
intends to emphasize “student support for scholarships
and fellowships.” She credits her successful experiences
to working with Dean Patricia O’Brien as the highlight
of her developmental career. |

Academic Personnel Analyst Scherlyl Eilander began at UCR
in 1983 as a temporary employee. Eilander is amazed at the
increase in student enrollment, parking fees, and development
of new buildings that have occurred during her career, as
well as the technological advancements. In addition, she marvels
at just how quickly 20 years have passed and how wonderful
her experience has been. In the future she plans on remaining
at the College while attempting to spend as much time with
her family. Eilander also states that having Dean O’Brien
present the award was an enormous honor for her. |
