Ivan Strenski Presented Faculty Research Lecturer Award

Ivan Strenski, Professor and Holstein Endowed Chairholder of Religious Studies, received the UC Riverside Academic Senate 2007-08 Faculty Research Lecturer Award, which is presented annually for excellence in research. The Faculty Research Lecturer Award has been the most prominent honor the UC Riverside Academic Senate can bestow to faculty since its founding over fifty-five years ago.
Strenski’s areas of research include, History of the History of Religions; Theory and Method in the Study of Religion; Durkheimian Studies in Religion; Religion and Science; Historiography of the History of Religions; Religion and Politics; Nineteenth Century French Jewry; Nineteenth Century French Christianity; History of Modern Buddhology in France; and Buddhology/Indology. Strenski received his B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in Religious Studies at Birmingham University.
