"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts."
— Shakespeare
The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, led by Dean Stephen Cullenberg, consists of individuals who each play a part in making CHASS an excellent academic institution.
Assistant Dean Susan Hunter Hancock will take her final bow Monday, June 29 as the curtain closes on her role at CHASS. As chief of staff to the Dean, Hancock supervised the Academic Personnel Unit, Staff Personnel, Academic Programs, Facilities Planning, Art Facilities Administration, and Theater Facilities.
Evie Tole, Assistant Dean for Development, states "It has been a delight and a privilege to work with Susan Hancock. I have valued her kindness, collegiality and professionalism. She will be sorely missed in CHASS."
Steven Brint, Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs, also comments: "My experience of Sue is of someone who worked hard to find fair solutions, asked good questions, and made sound decisions. She was also unfailingly helpful in solving problems. Whether discussing personnel issues, departmental organization, budget, or where to locate a spare research office, she listened carefully and worked hard to find solution that were amenable to everyone involved. It was a pleasure for me to work with a person who had such a high level of professional competence and such a positive, forward-looking outlook. I will miss her!"
"Sue is an excellent supervisor. She knows how to mentor her staff, support them by creating a winning environment, and lead them to succeed." said James Lin, Chief Technology Office for CHASS.
Not only will Tole, Brint, and James miss Hancock, but all of CHASS will feel the emptiness of losing a valuable cast member in the production of CHASS.
Everyone in CHASS would like to extend warm regards to Susan Hancock as she makes her entrance into the world of retirement.
