- Center for Asian Pacific America
The Center for Asian Pacific America (CAPA) is a faculty research center in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at the University of California, Riverside. It supports research in Asian American studies in the broadest sense. The faculty involved with the center represent a number of fields, including: anthropology, education, English, ethnic studies, ethnomusicology, psychology, and women’s studies. We take as one of our basic principles that it is precisely the diversity of approaches that enlivens the field. - Center for Bibliographical Studies and Research
The Center for Bibliographical Studies and Research works to support and encourage intra- and extramural study in its chosen areas of specialization and to share research with colleagues from around the world. CBSR currently oversees the California Newspaper Project (CNP) , the State component of the United States Newspaper Project, the CCILA (Catalogo Colectivo de Impresos Latinoamericanos hasta 1851), and the English Short-Title Catalog (1473-1800). - Center for Ideas and Society
The Center for Ideas and Society fosters the advance of the understanding of the human experience and cultural production through collaborative and interdisciplinary research, pedagogy, and creative production. The center is distinguished from other humanities research institutes by the importance it attaches to work in the arts and social sciences, the emphasis on intellectual history, and the exploration of the social context of ideas, artifacts, and events. - California Center for Native Nations
The California Center for Native Nations (CCNN) focuses on unique and innovative research that will lead to new interpretations that will influence the course of American Indian studies. The center has a strong focus on the California Native Nations and is dedicated to preserving the history, culture, language, and sovereignty of California’s first nations through exemplary research. The center also serves tribes by connecting them with the expertise within the University to solve research problems. - Center for Family Studies
The Center for Family Studies focuses on interdisciplinary research into significant advances in family theory, research and treatment. The center also works to understand the role of ethnic variation in families, with the diverse population of Southern California forming an ideal laboratory in which to explore this issue. - Center for Iberian and Latin American Music
The Center for Iberian and Latin American Music (CILAM) fosters research and performance of the music of Iberia and Latin America. The center hosts Diagonal, and online scholarly journal, and organizes Encuentros/Encounters, annual celebrations of the Iberian and Latin American musical heritage presenting original research and high-quality performances. - Center for Social & Economic Policy (CSEP)
The Center for Social & Economic Policy (CSEP) promotes research by UC Riverside faculty and graduate students on all aspects of social and economic policy. It places special emphasis on quantitative analysis as well as comparative or historical perspectives. The center sponsors academic focus groups and lecture series on policy-related research topics, and promotes ongoing research at UCR through various working-paper releases and by encouraging joint projects among UCR researchers. - Edward J. Blakely Center for Sustainable Suburban Development
The Edward J. Blakely Center for Sustainable Suburban Development provides research and analysis with an emphasis on policy on a wide-range of issues faced by developing suburban areas. This multi-disciplinary center touches on all aspects of the human experience to help ensure that the nation’s growing suburbs are sustainable and make sensible use or resources while meeting the needs of its population. - Institute for Research on World Systems (IROWS)
The Institute for Research on World Systems (IROWS) organizes collaborative research among social and physical scientists on long-term, large-scale social change and its ecological, geographical and epidemiological causes and effects. IROWS facilitates interdisciplinary collaborative research among sociologists, anthropologists, geographers, political scientists, historians, environmental scientists and economists. - Presley Center for Crime and Justice Studies
Presley Center for Crime and Justice Studies is an interdisciplinary center that examines, evaluates and disseminates information about crime and justice in California and across the nation. The center provides opportunities to engage in research in a multicultural environment, and provides to the public good through impacting policy at local and national levels. - Southern California Academic Center of Excellence on Youth Violence Prevention (ACE-UCR)
The emphasis of the Southern California Academic Center of Excellence on Youth Violence Prevention (ACE-UCR) is to develop, implement, evaluate and disseminate youth violence prevention programs. Research is focused on acknowledging the causes of and solutions to preventing youth violence and addressing the unique needs and circumstances of Latino youth. - Survey Research Center
Equipped with state-of-the art equipment and software, the Survey Research Center provides instructors with the ability to incorporate survey research into coursework, giving students first-hand experience of collecting and analyzing public opinion data. The lab can also be used by the campus community for research activities undertaken across the University.
