Scholarships and Fellowships
Make a CHASS Donation!
In light of the state’s current budget crisis,
scholarship funds are urgently needed to support our
students. To respond to this pressing need, CHASS is
seeking $2,000,000 for Endowed Scholarships and Fellowships.
Approximately 40% of UCR's undergraduates come from
families with an average income of $19,500 per year.
Meanwhile, the 2003-04 cost of attending UCR for a student
living on-campus is $5,951 for in-state fees, $9,350
room and board, and approximately $1,450 books and supplies.
UCR currently provides student aid in the form of need-based
grants, loans and work-study employment to 70% of its
undergraduates, however the proposed 2004 California
state budget reductions will seriously and adversely
impact both the number and size of grants that UCR can
provide in future years. The scholarship support provided
each year by individual donors not only enables UCR
to keep pace with the needs of a growing student population,
it directly reduces the self-help (loan and work) portion
of a student's financial aid package.
