UCR’s theatre department will be holding its first annual Short Film Festival during April 4, 5, and 6. Each night there will be two screenings; one at 7 p.m. and the other at 9 p.m.  It will take place in INTS 1128 and will feature the department’s very first film,NAMES, written by MFA student David Campos and directed by Professor Root Park. The film tells the story of a young man who struggles to accept the news about his chances of having a child and how to inform his wife. Immediately following the viewing, several pairings of student, faculty, and alumni short films will be shown. Auditions for the film were open to all UCR students regardless of major, and those called back were required to enroll in THEA 170.  Admission to the festival is free for UCR students with a valid ID, $12 for Non-UCR students, UCR alumni cardholders, senior citizens and children, and $14 for all others. Parking in Lot 1 is $5 or passes can be purchased at the kiosk.  For more information, contact Kathy DeAtley at (951) 827-3245 or performingarts@ucr.edu.
