By Christine Kitano, Editor Intern of CHASS College Computing

UCR CMP WebsiteIn mid-November, the newly designed website for the UCR/California Museum of Photography was honored with the Pixel Award in the Art Category and and an honorobale mention for the People’s Champ Award. Each year the Pixel Award honors 20 websites that have demonstrated excellence in web design and development. The judges are made up of executive managers and visionaries from a variety of industries – art and design, marketing and advertising, product developments and technology, and usability. The websites are evaluated on innovation, content, navigation, visual design, functionality, innovation, and overall site experience.

UCR/CMP’s website was redesigned to make it easier for virtual visitors to browse the museum’s on-line exhibitions, permanent collections, and have access to a large array of educational materials. Visitors are now able to search all the collections by keyword for specific topics, locations, and subjects.

The website’s redesign was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Learning Opportunities Grant (LOG).
