New Chaucer Society Selects Leader from UCR

Joh M. GanimJohn M. Ganim, professor of English at UCR, has been elected President of the New Chaucer Society for 2006-2008. 

The Chaucer Society is the leading scholarly organization devoted to the study of Geoffrey Chaucer and his contemporaries, as well as literature written in the four hundred year period between the Norman Conquest in 1066 and the War of the Roses in the late fifteenth century.

The Chaucer Society publishes a prestigious annual volume, Studies in the Age of Chaucer. The Society also encourages other scholarly publications related to Chaucer and later medieval English literature.

The New Chaucer Society holds an international conference every two years. Recent Biennial Congresses of the New Chaucer Society have been held in London, Paris, Glasgow, Dublin and New York City.

Most members of the Chaucer Society reside in the US, the UK, Japan, Canada and France, with a smaller number of members from approximately 20 other countries.
