On June 2 2008, Kevin Grisham, a UCR graduate student in Political Science, was presented with a resolution by the City Council of San Bernardino to recognize his work as an instructor in the Model United Nations (MUN) program. His selection was a result of his job as the faculty advisor for the Model United Nations and Model Arab League Program at California State University, San Bernardino.  In a highly competitive contest, his team won the top international prize and, as a result, the City of San Bernardino, the California State Legislature and the Governor have all recognized Kevin and his students for their successes this year.

Because of his success with his students and his recognition by the City of San Bernardino, Grisham was selected by the National Collegiate Conference Association to serve as the Director-General for the first-ever international MUN conference in China this coming November. MUN states that their "programs offer a diverse group of informed participants a forum for discussing global concerns in a context that closely parallels the real world. Students and faculty from five continents work feverishly to propose resolutions addressing regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, women and children, economic and social development, and the environment. MUN programs provide students with a better understanding of the inner working of the United Nations as they build skills in diplomacy and compromise."

With his success here in the Inland Empire, Grisham will continue to thrive in China, representing UC Riverside through "this ground-breaking conference" which will have "student participants from around the world.. experience NMUN abroad."
