CHASS's Facilities Reservations System (FRS 2.0) had been selected to receive the Larry L. Sautter Silver Award for Achievement in University Computing for 2009. The Larry Sautter Award is the highest IT (informational technology) award in the UC System. The 2009 Award will be presented at the UC Computing Services Conference at UC Davis, June 16th. Time has also been allotted for the presentation of the FRS 2.0 at 5:30 pm.

David Ernst, Associate Vice President and CIO of UC Office of the President, states that the "goal of the Larry L. Sautter Award Program is to promote information sharing about technological solutions that advance the University's mission or improve its administrative process."

CHASS is familiar with winning IT awards. In 2003 it received the Larry L. Sautter Silver Award for Achievement in University Computing for the "Technology Transfer Approach for College-wide Web Sites Development and Maintenance" project. In 2007, CHASS received the Finalist Award in Business Intelligence for its innovative technology "Student Advising Appointment System," a prominent national award from ComputerWorld magazine.

FRS 2.0 was initially developed for managing CHASS' facility scheduling by using the Web 2.0 technology to modernize the facility reservation processes for both facility users and administrative staff. FRS 2.0 is able to manage a range of facilities from a single room to multiple room reservations, mimicking the ease of booking a flight. FRS eliminates bookkeeping and monotonous paper work, in which facility administrators can manage their facilities with ease and lowered costs. FRS 2.0 has recently expanded to serve eight other UC campuses. FRS 2.0 was developed by a team that includes James Lin, Kelvin Mac, Matthew Chu, Ray Holguin, Paul Richardson, May Longtin, Katrice Wright, Shayna Conaway, Alica Kofford, and Sue Hancock.
