Luis Carazo, lecturer and alum from the UC Riverside theatre department, will be appearing in Casa De Mi Padre (House of My Father), a telenova-esque, all Spanish comedy starring Will Ferrell. Carazo plays young Miguel Ernesto, the flashback-version father of Armando Alvarez (Ferrell), whose ranch is currently in danger of bankruptcy. It falls to Miguel’s sons to save the family legacy, but in their attempts to do so unfolds a farcically dramatic involvement with Gael Garcia-Bernal’s character (a drug lord named Onza).

Written by Andrew Steele and directed by Matt Piedmont, best known for their contributions on Saturday Night Live, Casa De Mi Padre promises a unique blend of humor that should more than compensate for the modest film budget of just six million dollars. "Working on this film was fantastic,” says Carazo of his experience. “Matt Piedmont is one of those directors whose brain thinks 3 seconds faster than normal humans, and it was a blast to be able to play and keep up with such a mind."

The film will air this Friday, March 16th at select theaters throughout the U.S., including several locations near the UC Riverside campus.
