The Humanities Student Research Awards is an annual award grant that assists graduate students who are involved in original research and creative projects in the humanities. It is primarily intended for research proposals related to a dissertation or MFA work, but other projects are considered as well. Projects are judged according to intellectual merit, support, and justification for the proposal as it relates to completion of an MFA proposal or dissertation. Applicants are judged based on the quality of previous academic work, the evidence of ability to do research, and other creative accomplishments, as well as the promise of becoming a productive scholar. “The application is brief...one-page fill-in-the-blank….and a one-page treatment...and then a letter of recommendation”, shared award winner, Shaun Miller says. Applications are collected each Fall and the awards are announced in the Spring, ranging around fifteen-hundred dollars. Another award  winner, Amy Hough, utilized her grant to travel to Italy to conduct research on ‘Liquid Perception. “This grant helps enable you to go further in your research”, Hough stated.

The grant period is from May to April the following year. If an extension is needed, a written request must be submitted for the grant period. An award is terminated only upon leaves of absences, filing fee statuses, withdrawals, or graduation. Below is the list of applicants who have been awarded for the 2017-2018 year:
