College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences

Incoming Graduate Students
Welcome to UC Riverside and the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences
We are excited to have you join our community of scholars, artists, and social scientists! The checklist below will help guide you through the items you need to do before and after your arrival and help in the transition to graduate studies and campus life.
Steps to Take After Returning the Intent to Register...
Set Up Your UCR Email Account
A confirmation letter with your Student and Net ID numbers will be sent to you when the campus receives your Intent to Register form. The R’Web portal is where you’ll go to set up your e-mail, as well as enroll in courses, review financial account information, make payments, update contact information, set up your bank direct deposit for non-payroll financial awards, and more!
Send Official Transcripts
Official transcripts are required from all institutions you have attended. Please ensure these are sent before the first day of classes to avoid any registration holds. E-transcripts from your institution(s) should be sent directly to Graduate Admissions.
Register for Classes
Fall instruction begins September 25, 2025. The campus is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Friday and is closed on Academic and Administrative Holidays.
New Student Enrollment Period is June 30 - October 10, 2025
The Schedule of Classes is available online after May. Contact your program to review course requirements. For instructions on how to register online, visit the Registrar's Office.
View the Academic Calendar for important deadlines, as well as your graduate program handbook or Catalog Copy to review degree requirements and other graduate program information. Any questions contact the Faculty Graduate Advisor and Student Services Advisor.
International Students
International Students will be able to enroll after clearing any Graduate Division holds and checking in with the International Students and Scholars Center.
Complete the Online Statement of Legal Residence (SLR)
All incoming graduate students are required to file a Statement of Legal Residence (SLR). Once this form is submitted, fellowship stipends will be scheduled for disbursement, and any registration holds will be cleared. Any questions, contact Reshelp@ucr.edu or visit the Residency site.
Misconduct Survey
In the admissions financial package, the offer of academic employment is included for most students during the first academic year. Students will receive an e-mail from Truescreen with a misconduct survey before an assignment is made. This survey is required to be submitted as a condition of employment.
Sign Up for Payroll Direct Deposit
- 1st DIRECT DEPOSIT FORM: From the R’Web portal, set up direct deposits to your bank account for fellowship stipends, financial aid, or any other student refunds. Visit the Student Business Services page for more information on Refunds, Loan Processing, Payments, 1098-T Taxpayer Relief Act, Forms and Student Accounts.
- 2nd DIRECT DEPOSIT FORM (TA Employment Payroll): If your financial award package includes a TA appointment during the first year, you’ll complete a set of personnel forms before employment. Perla Fabelo will be in contact with you about this process. Direct deposits will take effect one month after signing up for payroll. Students are encouraged to update their current mailing address if payments are mailed out.
Housing
If you’d like to be in contact with current graduate students to find a roommate or rent a room, contact your program’s graduate student services advisor, who will gladly connect you with their student listserv. Below are a few places to find on and off-campus housing. Please apply early.
- UCR Housing Services

Things to Do Later this Summer…

Students who prefer to keep their own medical insurance will need to cancel UCR’s policy by applying for a waiver as soon as possible. Any questions, please contact the Student Health Services.
