The unlawful invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and allied nations has prompted outrage across the globe. War-related disruptions to academic research and educational exchange have already affected the CHASS community. Economic sanctions, travel restrictions, and the growing humanitarian crisis may soon impact all of Inland Southern California.

While CHASS has the expertise to explore the origins and impacts of Russian aggression over the days and weeks to come, our faculty, staff, and students must take immediate actions to comply with UC and federal directives to protect our core academic assets. All CHASS personnel and programs with activities in, with, or in support of the Russian Federation are required to review the list of new financial and trade sanctions below.

Please note that the United States’ response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine remains very fluid. As such, all actions taken by the U.S. Government are subject to change at a moment’s notice.

Affected administrative and research personnel should contact UCR’s Export Control Office as soon as possible to help resolve any challenge with research, collaboration, procurement, payments, shipments, and travel to Russia, Ukraine, or Belarus.
