To guarantee a timely submission, proposals must be received by the Office of Research for review and institutional approval by the following lead times:
Proposal Lead Time
- RED deadline: A minimum of two (2) full business days (excludes holidays) before the Sponsor Due Date.
- CHASS deadline: A minimum of ten (10) full business days (excludes holidays) before RED’s deadline for proposals with no sub-awards; twenty-one (21) full business days for proposals with sub-awards.
NOTE: Lead times may be extended if there are multiple sub-awards or the proposal is complex and requires additional time.
Principal Investigators are strongly encouraged to start working with their unit administrator and the Office of Research at least one month before the Sponsor Due Date for non-standard proposals. This will ensure that there is sufficient time to review and resolve any issues, secure special approvals, coordinate with other Investigators and/or institutions, etc., before the Sponsor Due Date.
